TEXT OF READING 4716-1 M 48

This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 105th St. and Ocean, Virginia Beach, Va., this 29th day of January, 1932, in accordance with request made by self, through Mr. [437], Associate Member of Ass'n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

Time of Reading 4:15 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. New York City.

(Physical Suggestion)

1. EC: Yes, we have the body, [4716]. Now, as we find, there are disturbances in the physical forces of the body. These have to do with the soft tissues in the body, though these are but effects of more subtle conditions that exist with the body.

2. These, then, are the conditions that we find with this body, [4716] we are speaking of:

3. IN THE BLOOD SUPPLY - We find evidences of poisons being carried back into the system, through an excess of the amount of congestion or congested area through which some portions of the circulation pass, without the impulse of the nerve forces in those particular portions; as in the antrum and nasal cavities, where there has existed - and does exist - congestion, and where poisons from same, or accumulations, have allowed much of the drosses to remain in the system by the condition of the liver and its activity in taking from the system those that SHOULD be eliminated by the circulation. Hence there are periods when this, as we find, has affected the heart's action - though not an organic condition; nor are the organs ABOUT same, either in the respiratory system or the heart's action itself involved, other than sympathetically.

4. IN THE NERVE SYSTEM - As we find, here the greater portion of the condition exists. In times back there has been some exposure by the body, under stress and strain of mental conditions, when the lower portion of the body - especially the feet and lower limbs - suffered strain; and these find an expression in the heaviness as existed in the body between the shoulders, and from the brachial center to the head and neck. These, as we find, made pressure as exist in the lower cervical and upper dorsal area; reducing through those pressures the impulse of the nerve supply and blood supply to carry impulse and circulation from the head and neck, the antrum, the thyroid glands, and so the INCREASED pressure there has prevented the impulse of the lymph and those circulations to carry away drosses. These gradually accumulated, until there have been those effects not only in the outer portions; that is, in the lymph circulation and the capillary circulation (where there were some irritations to the body in the cuticle itself), but those conditions in the throat, in the antrum in the nasal passages, those pressures as made the burning for the eyes, the hearing impaired by those pressures in same, brought about these conditions.

5. These, then, are a combination - though that RELIEF that has been brought, by those effects of the operative forces on the antrum and the cleansing of same, has only PARTIALLY removed the causes. Neither have those causes removed those strains that such an amount of poisons in system has affected the liver and the hepatic circulation.

6. These, then, as we find, were those REMOVED - and the impulses that caused these strains, we would find the body would respond, and not only will the general health and general activity of the body physical and mental be aided - through the relief of the poisons in system, but there would be the better activity of the liver, the clearer condition as would exist through the hepatic circulation and through the kidneys, and the hearing and vision would also be aided.

7. As we would find, while it will be necessary for the time being - that there still be those cleansings of the antrum, until the poisons are entirely removed, there will also be the necessity of some of the cleansings - these done locally, to be sure. We would use as the antiseptic in same a weakened solution of the Ichthyol, rather than those that carry the more gummy substance in or for the soft tissues; for these will not only act as clarifiers or cleansers for the condition, but the ABSORPTION of same by the system will aid the soft tissue, the soft bone, and the structural portions of the bones themselves, to recuperate in a more normal way and manner.

8. But we would take those general work-outs as would be administered by such an one as Reilly, or the like - with the manipulations directed the stronger in the upper dorsal and in the lower cervical area. Not a heavy work-out, but with the sweats, salt glows, oil rubs AND manipulations, these should bring for the body the corrective forces, giving a better reaction throughout the body. These we would take once or twice a week, until the conditions are clarified.

9. When necessary (but do not neglect same) use those cleansings for the nasal and the antrum, and the throat - which would be done once or twice a week until two or three are done, then once or twice a month until these conditions disappear entirely.

10. Ready for questions.

11. (Q) Would present effects as indicated be result of sinus trouble?

(A) The condition, as we find, of the STRAIN that was caused under pressure some years ago, with the condition in which the feet and the extremities of the body suffered at the      time, brought about that strain on the upper portion of the body - reflexly. Then the POSITIONS, and the worryings, brought about the CENTRALIZATION of same to the upper dorsal and lower cervical area. This pressure prevented those reactions through the sinus area. Hence the SINUS was the result of a pressure on the nervous system! Removing the condition in the sinus area, or the throat, or along those pressures to the auditory nerves, only relieved partially.

Hence the applications that will make for correction and those that will stimulate the eliminating and the excretory forces of the body - as the liver and the kidneys. Making them coordinate with the rest of the system will clarify and make for bettered conditions. Do that.

12. (Q) Who should apply the Ichthyol?

(A) Somebody that knows how! Such an one as has been applying it heretofore, or that has been applying other measures. Don't change from those of the specialist, that have given these - but ADD these other conditions!

13. We are through for the present.

Time of Reading

3:40 to 3:50 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. ..., Va.

(Physical Suggestion)

1. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [341]; this we have had

before.

2. There are many changes in the system since last we had same

here. Yet there ARE the effects in the system of

disturbances that have been seen here before, some time back;

though there are more infectious forces from the poisons

and localization of same in the disturbance between the

eliminating systems of the body.

3. The localizations arise as we find from congestion from cold,

and the infectious reactions that arise from same through a

disturbed circulation and poor elimination and lack of

coordination between eliminating systems, as has been

indicated in times back.

4. There are those tendencies for accumulations in the colon and

through the alimentary canal, and these form for that as oft

produces a disturbance through the stomach itself, producing

a very bad condition at times of halitosis, at other times

producing caking through the colon area, as well as upsetting

in the system; the effect becoming as irritations to the

lymph and the emunctory circulation in the disturbance to the

nerve system and a rash, an itch that comes over portions of

the body - as at times on the lower limbs and the groin area

especially, under the armpits and on the side. These are

effects, the causes being a deeper condition as indicated in

the circulatory system.

5. Congestions as are indicated from the cold and infection from

the poor circulation in the sinus, in the nasal passages, in

the throat, all arise from and are contributory causes to

cold and congestion from the poor circulation.

6. In meeting then the needs of the conditions, we would find,

we would first take a course, as it were - this being the

slower way but the much better way. For the seat of the

trouble and the causes may be eliminated. But do not as

before, when the first effects are relieved, leave it off -

but carry on until the causes are also eliminated AND

coordination is set up in the eliminating systems.

7. For with the clogging of the colon and the alimentary canal,

even through the jejunum and portions of the stomach, this

disturbs the circulation - and the poisons that should be

carried off by the kidneys and the activity of the upper

portion of the hepatic circulation become thrown off in the

effluvia through the respiratory and to the perspiratory

circulation, or lymph and emunctory. And these produce those

disturbances in the cuticle and the epidermis and through

those portions of the body where there is the disturbance.

And the activities then grow hard upon even the glandular

system, especially the thyroid circulation.

8. Begin first as with these; this in each capsule, and make

three:

Podophyllum................1/4 grain,

Leptandrin.................1/2 grain,

Sanguinaria................1/2 grain,

Cascara Sagrada............1/2 grain.

9. These are to be taken at least twenty-four hours apart, see?

10. May be necessary, and would be more effective if after eight

hours - after they are taken - a high enema is taken. This a

saline solution in the first, a saline and soda solution in

the second, and these the temperature of the body; not cold,

not hot - or ninety-eight degrees. These should be effective

in assisting in the eliminations.

11. Then when these have acted upon the body, after three to four

days begin with Zilatone - two tablets an hour and a half

after the morning meal, two tablets an hour and a half after

the noon meal, two tablets an hour and a half after the

evening meal.

12. The next morning take, in hot water, a tablespoonful of

Fleet's Phospho-Soda. Lie upon the right side, so that

this will work through, with a prop under the gall duct

area, so this will work through the gall duct itself, or

cause the activity of the hot Phospho to act upon the liver,

the spleen, the pancreas together - and DRAIN the system.

13. Take during the whole period of these activities, about every

third day a good GENERAL osteopathic treatment, with SPECIFIC

attention to the head, the neck, the sinus, the vagus center

and the LUMBAR center or lumbar axis also.

14. This as we find, with the proper precautions as to an alkalin

diet, keeping a regular balance in same, should remove the

causes as well as the effects of the disturbance with this

body.

15. First the Podophyllum and combinations. Then after three to

four days the draining of the gall duct. But don't overeat

of sweets soon after, or else we will have a drain again upon

the system or the formation of that as will create a

disturbance of the same nature.

16. Have the manipulations and carry out all of these.

17. The use of Castoria as a flushing is well after any of

these are taken, for this will settle the system and set

the digestive organs in their proper relationships one to

another, better than other laxatives or cathartics.

18. Ready for questions.

19. (Q) Until cause has been removed, what local application

would relieve the pain in the sinus?

(A) Heat and the combinations of the oils as indicated in

Mutton Suet, Spirits of Turpentine, Spirits of Camphor, and

Compound Tincture of Benzoin. These remove congestion if

heat is applied. For each carries with same activities

upon the mucous membranes to aid in relieving, through a

penetration, healing and soothing effect.

But the beginning of the removal of the effects will

remove the pain also. The first thorough activity of the

Podophyllum - if there are the precautions, not out in the

cold, not getting the feet wet or the like that will simply

add congestion and cold - this will relieve the condition.

Keep the feet warm and out of the night air.

TEXT OF READING 658-15 F 65

This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on

[658], Member of the Ass'n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

Mrs. [658].

R E A D I N G

Time of Reading

3:30 to 4:05 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. ..., Va.

(Physical Suggestion)

1. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [658]; the associations,

surroundings, we have had before. [GD's note: Someone

previously had a reading while living in the same apartment,

but I can't remember who it was.]

2. Now as we find, while many conditions are very good in the

physical forces, considering the general debilitation that

has existed, there may be much to be desired; and the

activities of the body may be brought to such as to give a

greater opportunity, a greater inspiration, for the

manifestations of constructive forces through the physical

activities of the body.

3. First, as to the mental and material attitudes - which have

had a great deal to do with the courage, with the faith, with

the desires of the body, in meeting those disturbing factors

in the mental and material surroundings of the body; hence:

4. There should be, first, an analysis of self as to what it

desires to do, in the mental and material relationships with

others; and not as to how much or what may be gained by its

associations or affiliations with others but as to how much

good, how much hope, how much patience, how much long-

suffering, how much brotherly love, how much of those things

that make in experiences of all the expression of life really

worth while, desirable in their experience and their

relationships one to another.

5. Knowing, realizing (as the entity oft has), that all force,

all power, all knowledge, all good only comes from service to

the fellow man in the attitude of the expression of Creative

Forces or God in the relationships as one to another; then:

6. Being, living, expressing in that attitude, leave the

results, leave those activities about self, in the hands of

Creative Forces.

7. You say, you manifest in many ways, that you believe in God,

you believe in the Son.

8. Then just keep those commandments, that are the fruits of the

spirit; and you will find life, its expressions, the physical

self, taking on a new ideal.

9. Have the ideal and yet - more - the courage to dare to be

that as you would have your fellow man - yes, your God - be

to you!

10. In the physical forces and those things that hinder same, as

we find:

11. There is rather a combination of conditions, attitudes,

mental conditions and physical reactions through the body.

12. Hence there cannot be a complete expression of self in the

activities and in the body of self unless the attitudes are

kept in a constructive way and manner so as to justify the

adding of material benefits.

13. As has been and is understood by the body, all good, all

health, all life comes from God.

14. And as given of old, when there is error, misunderstanding,

misapplication, misconception, behold sin lieth at the door.

15. Then in the physical forces, as given, we find these

combinations:

16. There have been poisons by a disturbed circulation, so that

portions of the superficial circulation are so often acted

upon by the sensory forces - or the mental reactions to

conditions. But these disturbances produce poisons within

themselves that have not been and are not eliminated properly

from the system; thus setting up the disturbing conditions

through the digestive forces, through the eliminating

channels of the body.

17. Thus we find a sluggishness, and the natural or normal

reaction from same to the physical forces themselves of the

body.

18. These then make for a suppression as it were, with the acute

conditions that arise in the face, the head; the neck, the

shoulders, the arms, the lower limbs at times becoming heavy,

draggy.

19. The digestive forces, the liver, the kidneys, all become

involved in the disturbing conditions.

20. And these as we find are the effects of infectious forces

that arise from this combination or complication of complex

condition in the system.

21. For, as may be found, if the body is in that attitude of

exuberance or a great optimism, great opportunities

physically and materially, then these disturbances seem to

lift as it were.

22. Then, it is self and self's own desire for self getting in

the way oft at times.

23. Not that the entity should become so passive as to give way

to every little condition, but KNOW what is desired; and as

He has given, first of all seek the Lord while He may be

found - then all of these things shall be added unto you.

24. This you have said you believe. Have you kept the faith?

Answer that within self.

25. Then the applications that carry with same the effects that

are constructive with or for the body, owing to the

disturbing conditions in the physical self, are as we find as

these:

26. First of all, every other morning use the Dobell's salts as a

spray for nasal passages, for throat, for the antrum, the

sinus; that there may be a purifying or an aiding in the

system with the renewed vitality and life by the activities

or mental attitudes giving the abilities to throw off

congestion in the portions that have been affected; thus

allowing the SYSTEM to rebuild to the near normal conditions.

This solution, for the nose, the throat, may be at times used

in a spray, at other times snuffed deeply; or gargled.

27. From the secretions there are those tendencies for the

mucous, or for a draining, dripping that naturally becomes a

portion of the salivary or glandular reaction. Thus that

character of condition is formed through the digestive forces

of the body.

28. Then to aid in this being broken up, and to give the organs

of assimilation (the liver, the pancreas, the kidneys, the

spleen, the gall duct, the lacteals that draw from the

circulation and aid in the assimilation for distribution

through the circulation to all portions of the body) the

ability to function properly:

29. We would use a mild laxative in the form of Eno Salt. This

would be taken as an aid to eliminations but about twice each

week, provided the diet is kept near to a normal balance. As

to the dose or quantity when this is taken, take two heaping

teaspoonsful in a teaglass of water. This should be

dissolved thoroughly and taken, of course, before any morning

meal is taken.

30. In the diet - there are the tendencies to overacidize or

overalkalize portions of the system. Hence we would keep

rather these, and a near to normal balance in the diet:

31. Do not take cereals or toast even, for this body, on the

mornings when citrus fruits are taken. Oranges are

preferable for this body, with a little lemon in same, to

grapefruit; though grapefruit may be taken at times.

32. Do not overtax the system with bananas, unless these are

ripened in their natural state; for the activity of these in

the beginnings of their deterioration - before they are

palatable - makes for a hardship upon the system. But those

that are overripe, or that have been gathered or prepared

when they have fully matured, may be taken in moderation at

certain meals or times.

33. Broths of vegetable combinations are well.

34. The sea salt should be preferably used from the kelp rather

than that from sea water. Kelp, to be sure, is a plant that

carries all the properties of same; and this taken as

seasoning for corn bread or seasoning of certain characters

of vegetables AFTER they are prepared is good in the diet.

35. Fish and fowl, with a little lamb, may be taken; but not

fats; and no hog meat of ANY kind unless it is the tripe or

the liver or the kidneys - these are very good in keeping a

balance and in producing that for the system to aid in

keeping down uremia or uremic reaction from a taxed system.

36. Do these and as we find we will through these manners tend to

make for the better conditions of this body; but:

37. First analyze self, get right with Creative Forces, with a

purposefulness of self first. Not as selfishness, not as

self-exaltation, not as self-indulgences; but know:

38. "I KNOW my Redeemer liveth - I KNOW!"

39. How?

40. Because you believe what has been written, you believe what

has been said. Has He not given to you, "Try me - know me -

call and I will hear"? This means YOU, not someone else!

41. And this attitude of living, being a manifestation of that in

thy dealings with thy fellow man, will aid the most in

assisting the natural forces or creative energies to bring

the physical body to normalcy.

42. Ready for questions.

43. (Q) Will you give the quantity of Dobell's salts to be used

at a time?

(A) About a tablespoonful or two tablespoonsful in a spray,

or a tablespoonful at a time put in the hand and snuffed, or

a good swallow gargled.

44. (Q) Will ocean water cure sinus, T. B., and cancer?

(A) This becomes dependent entirely upon the condition, the

state, the cause, and the manner in which it is applied.

Remember, each soul is almost a law unto itself.

This is helpful in most of these conditions at certain

stages, but to say that it is a cure would be incorrect.

Remember, all active forces are creative. Hence they are of

Life or God (the ocean elements); thus they are curative or

helpful, applied properly. Misapplied, they become as

knowledge - an abuse of the gift of God; thus error, disease

- dis-ease and then disease.

45. (Q) How is the best way to use it for these conditions?

(A) This would depend upon the state, upon the environ and

upon many different things.

There is no cure-all except being in attune with the

Infinite.

46. (Q) What diet will cure sinus, T. B., and cancer?

(A) This again depends upon the state, the attitude, the

general conditions of the body.

You see (if there is desired an understanding of same):

In the concept of each individual entity it is made up of so

many hormones of a positive and negative vibration. This is

at conception, you see. It sets in motion the vibrations of

the body. These are divided as they multiply through those

periods of gestation, and as separation begins these are then

with the first breath set as the vibratory force of that

individual body - as each leaf upon a tree, each blade of

grass - no two are exactly alike. The vibration, the

activity, the reaction is different with each. For what is

has been, is and will be. Now learn what that means!

And as changes come about, as the individual entity or body

comes into association with other vibrations, it is its

reaction, its choice, its use of will that makes the great

variation in its condition.

For this body also, [658] we are speaking of, we will find

that the use of a weak solution of Atomidine as a douche at

times will remove that heaviness, that strain, through the

organs of the pelvis. The proportions would be a teaspoonful

of the commercial strength Atomidine to a quart of body-

temperature water. Use a Fountain Syringe, NOT a pump or

force or valve.

47. (Q) Is the salt in the ocean water the same as in our blood?

(A) Not necessarily. At times it is. It is the nearest

composition. But as the blood in a body constantly changes,

as hot and cold, as the various diets, so does the saltiness

or the position of same in the ocean change according to its

turmoil or the use of the activities about same, see?

48. (Q) Is there any advice you can give to help me?

(A) If you will apply that as here given, it will help!

First find self and self's relation, and what is desired to

be done! Enter close oft into communion, into meditation

with the consciousness within thyself of thy relationship to

thy Creator; and then - as this is aroused, and you make

application of the material things for the physical relief to

give expression of same becomes naturally a part of the self.

49. We are through for the present.

REPORTS OF READING 3094-1 F 38

This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of

the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this

15th day of July, 1943, in accordance with request made by

the self - Mrs. [3094], new Associate Member of the Ass'n for

Research and Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by Miss Viola

Beck.

P R E S E N T

Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.

R E A D I N G

Time of Reading

10:40 to 11:00 A. M. Eastern War Time. ..., N.Y.

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it

thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the

present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions,

also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering

the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [3094].

3. As we find, while the conditions in the present are not so

severe, they are at times very aggravating and uncomfortable

for the body.

4. And corrections, we find, may be made now; while if

conditions are allowed to continue, there will either be the

localizing of the disturbance in some portions of the body or

the developing of a constitutional condition that would keep

the body from being normally well at any time.

5. These, then, are conditions as we find them with this body,

[3094] we are speaking of:

6. The blood supply indicates congestion through the upper parts

of the body, or through head, nasal passages, sinus

particularly disturbing, throat infection. And from this

there arises a disturbance with the digestive system, where

the infectious forces are swallowed into the stomach.

7. Hence we have a tendency for an irritation at the pyloric as

well as in the cardiac portion of the stomach.

8. This causes the headaches, the upsetting of the digestive

system; and so changes the lactic and digestive fluids of the

stomach as to cause at times a great deal of inconvenience.

Hence lacerations or ulcerations may tend to form later,

unless corrections are made.

9. These also indicate, - as in the sinus and the soft tissue of

throat and head, - that this is more of a catarrhal

condition. Thus those periods when there is a great deal not

so much of phlegm as mucous that is discharged from same.

This also contributes to the headaches and the general

weaknesses indicated through the body at times; that tired,

languid, aching feeling.

10. These drains on the system, as we find, are the primary or

major disturbances with this body in the present.

11. Of course, these form toxic forces in the body, and these -

unless corrected - may form a blocking off in some portions

of the body, as to affect the circulation - or the locomotion

at times.

12. The organs in the present are not affected other than

occasionally in the functioning. This disturbance makes for

a very poor coordination between the sympathetic and the

cerebrospinal nerve AND blood supply.

13. Thus we find at times the hot and cold flushes; not from the

reaction to glandular forces, for these are very good.

14. As we find, in making corrections for this body, [3094]:

15. We would first begin with the hydrotherapy treatments. Have

one each week until at least six or eight are had. Then have

one every other week until four to six more are taken.

16. And these, with the other things we will suggest, should

correct the condition.

17. Do have an inhalant prepared for the sinus and throat

disturbance, so that - with the sweats and rubs - the body

will react and rejuvenate, as it were, the whole of these

areas.

18. Have an eight ounce, large-mouth bottle, prepared with two

vents in the cork so that the openings of the glass tubes

will enter the space above the solution. These tubes should

be corked also, except when being used, to prevent too much

evaporation or oxidization of the solution. The inhalant to

be put in the container would be prepared in this manner:

19. To 4 ounces of Grain Alcohol (at least 90% proof), add - in

the order named:

Oil of Eucalyptus...................20 minims,

Rectified Oil of Turp................5 minims,

Compound Tincture of Benzoin........15 minims,

Tolu in Solution....................20 minims.

When ready to inhale - which should be done at least night

and morning, or during the day if there is any inconvenience

- shake the solution, then remove the corks in the small

openings, and inhale the fumes that arise from same - through

each nostril, at least two or three times. Then inhale into

the throat and into the lungs.

20. This will act as an antiseptic and be healing for the

irritated areas that will be corrected by the massage and the

hydrotherapy treatments which would cleanse the system.

21. Also this will aid the activity of the kidneys and the

circulation through the liver, that is naturally disturbed by

the reflex condition of those poisons or congestions in the

stomach itself.

22. Do take internally, once or twice each day, six drops of

Glyco-Thymoline (or Lavoris) as an intestinal antiseptic.

This would be taken in water. Keep this up during the whole

period that these treatments are being taken.

23. These, if done, will - as we find - bring corrections for

this body, [3094].

24. Ready for questions.

25. (Q) What causes and how may I eliminate the sciatica which I

have had for the last ten years?

(A) This will be eliminated when the poisons are cleansed

from the system, through the massage and the sweats, as well

as purifying the system. See, the properties in the inhalant

are also purifying to the body, to cleanse or to correct

causes. The hydrotherapy and the sweats and the massage are

to correct those imperfections, or the conditions causing the

disturbance in the sciatic region. So, special attention

should be given to the lower lumbar and the limbs, when the

massages are made. Have these done at Reilly's.

Do this, and we will get better conditions for this body.

26. We are through with this Reading.
