When it is your turn to lead the group meditation.

1.    Cleansing:  Ask for a moment of silence so each, in his own way, may purify in mind and heart before approaching the God within.

2.    The Lord's Prayer:   Say it aloud together, thinking deeply of the meaning of the words.  It is related to the seven spiritual centres and helps lift the consciousness.  (Let's agree to say debts to avoid confusion.)

3    Affirmation:   Read aloud the affirmation at the beginning of the chapter that you are studying in A Search for God.  One purpose of the affirmation is to strengthen and heighten awareness of the subject of the lesson.  Repeat it two or three times, if it is new and no one has memorised it yet.

4.    Silence:  During the 10-15 minutes of silence each person should hold his attention on the affirmation just read.  (You should work on memorising it.)    "Now, in fixing attention upon the ideal (the affirmation) there should be created a desire to reach the highest possible state of awareness of which the whole being is capable.  This does not mean fixation upon the words of an affirmation, but a strong desire that the meeting with the inner self and God be unobstructed and unmarred by other distractions."(A Search for God, Book I).

5.    Prayer for healing:  The leader says a prayer aloud asking for the group to be used as channels for His blessing and His healing for all those whose names are called.

There are several ways this may be done.  In some groups, the names are called silently and simultaneously.  In other groups, the group focuses on one member at a time as that member silently names his names.  In other groups, each member calls his names aloud with the group silently focusing on him as the prayer moves around the circle.  In still other groups, the name or names, are repeated aloud in unison.

When all the members have completed their personal lists, the leader prays aloud directing the combined power of the group to:
   1.    all members who are absent and all for whom they pray.
   2.    those on the group or ARE prayer list
    3.    for ARE, its members and activities
    4.    any other subjects considered appropriate by the leader in line with the groups usual procedure.

6.    The 23rd Psalm:  Some groups say the 23rd Psalm together, aloud, to end the meditation.
